What a Breast Lift Estimate Can and Cannot Do
A breast lift estimate is a budget sketch you build before any surgeon has examined you. Its job is narrow: tell you whether a trip to Colombia deserves a closer look, and give you a yardstick to hold up against the quotes that come back. It cannot tell you which technique you need, whether you are a good candidate, or what a particular surgeon will charge. Only a consultation can do that.
The comparison has two sides, and they are built differently. On the US side, published data exists but usually describes only part of the bill. On the Colombia side, the honest starting point is the itemized written quotes you collect, not a number from a website. This page shows how to build both sides and line them up so they measure the same operation.
The US Side: Start With the Surgeon Fee, Then Add What It Leaves Out
The most widely cited US reference is the annual cost report from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. For 2024, ASPS put the surgeon and physician fee for a breast lift at $6,500 – $11,000 (USD), a projected range built from averages submitted by surveyed members (ASPS cost report, 2024).
Two cautions before you treat that range as "the US price." First, the table is labelled as surgeon and physician fees and does not itemize anesthesia, the operating room or supplies, so treat those as lines you still have to price. Second, ASPS moved from a single figure to a range specifically to reflect differences in geography and practice setting. Your city may sit at either end.
To fill in the missing lines, ask two or three local practices for a written self-pay quote that splits surgeon, anesthesia and facility. If the operation would happen in a hospital rather than a surgery center, US hospitals have been required since January 1, 2021 to post their prices online, both as a machine-readable file of all items and services and as a consumer-friendly display of shoppable services (CMS, 2026). The files are not easy reading, but they show the hospital's own charge structure.

The Colombia Side: Build It From Quotes, Not Headlines
Figures advertised as "Colombia breast lift prices" vary widely and are rarely sourced. We do not print a range here because we could not verify one against a reputable published source. Instead, request at least two written quotes that use the same line items as your US worksheet, in a stated currency, and ask each clinic to mark every line as included, excluded, or "depends on the exam."
Two lines weigh more heavily abroad because you pay them in the destination: lodging for the recovery days and local transport to follow-up appointments. Scope Choices That Move a Breast Lift Estimate
Most of the spread in mastopexy pricing comes from what is actually being done, not from the country it is done in.
Lift alone, or lift plus a change in volume
A lift raises the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue, and it can also reduce an areola that has stretched over time. It does not significantly change breast size or add fullness to the upper breast (ASPS, 2026). Patients who want more fullness are often offered a lift combined with implants; patients with large breasts may be offered a lift combined with a reduction. Each pairing is a different operation with a different price. If one quote is for a lift and another is for a lift with implants, they are not comparable, however close the totals look.
The incision pattern
Surgeons choose an incision pattern based on how much skin has to come out and where the nipple needs to sit. Ask each surgeon which pattern they expect from your photos and what could change it once they examine you in person. A remote quote built on a smaller pattern can grow after the consultation.
Implants, if they are part of the plan

Pathology, garments and drains
Ask whether any tissue removed is sent to a lab and who bills for it. After surgery you will wear an elastic bandage or support bra to limit swelling, and a thin drain tube may be placed under the skin for a short time (ASPS breast lift recovery guide, 2026). Find out whether the garment is included and whether drain removal is a separate visit.
Trip Length Belongs Inside the Estimate
A low surgical quote stops being low if the trip needs more nights than you budgeted. Build the calendar from three anchors:
- Before surgery: consultation and pre-op tests. Ask whether tests can be done at home first and whether the clinic will accept those results.
- After surgery: every in-person check the surgeon wants. The ASPS recovery checklist suggests asking when dressings come off, whether and when stitches are removed, and when you return for follow-up (ASPS breast lift recovery guide, 2026). Each answer is a date on your calendar.
- Clearance to fly: CDC guidance for medical tourists says not to fly for 10 days after chest or abdominal surgery (CDC Yellow Book, 2026). Ask your surgeon how that applies to your plan; their written instruction is the one to follow.
Multiply the nights by your lodging cost and add them to the travel column. If the surgeon's follow-up schedule and your return flight do not line up, that gap is a cost too.

When a quote does not answer a row, write "unknown" rather than zero. A blank cell is a question to send back.
What to Send With a Quote Request
- Your goal in plain words: lift only, or a change in size as well.
- Any previous breast surgery, implants or biopsies, with dates.
- Plans for future pregnancy or breastfeeding, and any weight change you expect.
- Recent breast imaging reports, if you have them.
- Current medications, health conditions and nicotine use.
- Your travel window and the number of days you can realistically stay.
Photos and medical records should go through the surgeon's own secure channel, not a general web form.
Reading the First Quotes Against Your Estimate
Check scope first: same operation, same incision pattern, implants or not. Then check exclusions. CDC notes that some overseas providers charge substantial extra fees for follow-up care, so confirm which visits are in the price (CDC Yellow Book, 2026). Compare totals only after that.
